Live adversarial editing
Revise work while responding in real time to continuous critique: training edit-under-fire instead of only polishing in calm after a single feedback dump.
When to use it
- You only polish calmly after a single feedback dump, then freeze under live critique.
- You have twenty minutes and want edit-under-fire practice.
- A draft is due and you need continuous pressure on clarity and evidence.
What to ask AI
Type something like: “Live adversarial editing on this draft: [ ]. Each round give at most TWO concrete objections.”
Require that you revise between rounds before more critique.
Forbid a full rewrite by the AI.
How it helps
Calm polishing after one feedback dump trains a different skill than editing under continuous critique.
Live adversarial editing revises while responding in real time to objections.
You learn to prioritise damage, fix, and continue, not to wait for a perfect mark-up.
How to run it
- Paste a short draft section.
- Receive at most two concrete objections per round.
- Revise those points yourself and resend.
- Repeat for several rounds.
- End by explaining why key sentences are shaped as they are.
Example exchange
Live-edit this paragraph with me, at most two objections, then I revise. [paste]
First: the opening claim has no support yet. Second: “significant” is vague, operationalise it or cut it.
Revised: “In a 2022 survey of 400 clinics, 18% reported X.” I cut “significant.”
Better. New round: the topic sentence still buries the result, lead with the 18%.
Copyable prompt
Live adversarial editing on this draft: [ ]. Rules: each round give at most
TWO concrete objections (clarity, evidence, structure). Wait for my revision
before more. Do not rewrite the whole draft for me.
The Tell
If the final looks good and you cannot explain why a paragraph is shaped as it is, the AI edited and you watched.
If objections arrive as a twenty-item dump, enforce the two-per-round rule.
Principle evidence
Strength of the underlying learning idea, not a claim about AI products.
The underlying learning idea is rated moderate. Revising under iterative critique resembles apprenticeship feedback loops and deliberate practice on writing moves. Benefits depend on the learner performing the edits.
AI delivery evidence
Whether an AI tutor delivers this method well is a separate question.
AI critique quality varies; it may prefer style over argument. You own priorities. Delivery is speculative.
